CRBF Mentoring

The Mentoring programme is a CRBF ran programme which is delivered in partnership with the Canterbury Rams organisation.  The programme’s purpose is to provide mentoring for tamariki & rangatahi from higher deprivation areas through the platform of basketball. The programme takes a 12 month approach with basketball integrated with short mentoring discussions to build trust between mentor & mentee to support the young person’s development of understanding of self & others.

Rams In School

The CRBF delivers an approved Basketball NZ Kiwi Hoops program in schools through a contract agreement to access Rams resources. The programme is delivered over 8 weeks to groups/classes of tamariki & rangatahi (boys & girls) to encourage increased participation in physical activity. The focus is on developing the teacher’s ability & confidence to deliver a basketball sessions so the programme could be continued without the CRBF’s direct involvement.

Mainland Eagles

The Academy is a Basketball New Zealand (BBNZ) endorsed programme which aims to help support the development of young people & coaches throughout the South Island.   Through utilising basketball as the medium to open up academic, leadership and life experiences. As a result, basketball can be utilised to develop well rounded, educated & community service focused individuals who contribute to society in a positive manner.
